Research interest

My principal investigation interests are focused on tree growth (primary and secondary growth, as well as buds and fruit production and development), the relationships between tree parts and the interaction of trees with their environment, especially the influence of local climatic factors controlling tree growth.

Utilisation of tree cores for dendroecological studies through measurements of earlywood, latewood and tree ring width, as well as vessels or tracheids cross-sectional area and their response to climatic variables.
Quercus robur wood core sample preparation for anatomical analyses, 12-03-2009, Bertiz, Pamplona, Navarra, Spain.
Quercus faginea wood mini-core sample preparation for transversal cross-sectional vessel area measurements, 17-02-2009, Arguis, Huesca, Aragon, Spain.
Use of wood minicores to measure the accumulated radial growth and for anatomical studies to determinate the period of earlywood vessels formation as related to the effect of climatic factors that drive their size.

Analyse the effect of bud size, their development and position on shoot growth differentiation and tree crown architecture.

Use of wood minicores to measure the accumulated radial growth and for anatomical studies to determinate the period of earlywood vessels formation as related to the effect of climatic factors that drive their size.
Influence of acorn production on secondary growth in annual shoots, 27-01-2011, Agüero, Huesca, Aragon, Spain
To study the importance of fruit production and their growth stages on the development of annual shoots and carbohydrates accumulation.
